My Supervision Philosophy

Wyoming Sunset

I primarily conceptualize supervisees through an integrative, developmental lens. I value individually conceptualizing each supervisee in a way that includes systemic elements, like the structure of the counseling and supervisory relationships as well as broader ecological contexts.

I believe a strong supervisory relationship built on trust is foundational, before the supervisor can work with the supervisee to coconstruct an approach to supervision that best promotes the supervisee's development in addition to their clients' wellness.

In alignment with the discrimination model, I intentionally alternate between supervisory, teaching, and counseling roles while conducting supervision. In this way, my teaching philosophy and approach informs my supervision.
